Tischlbongarisch

Documentary · 1h 25' · IT/EN subtitlesCompleted

A minority language at risk of disappearing — and a community committed to preserving it.

In a world where minority languages face oblivion every day, “Tischlbongarisch” is a living celebration of Timavese, the language of Timau, in the mountains of Carnia: a heritage rich in history, culture and identity, told through the personal stories, memories and experiences of the people who speak it.

Filmed in a theatre, the interviews build an intimate, empathic bridge between storytellers and audience; aerial and ground footage of the places that symbolise Timavese culture place the language in its landscape, revealing the bond between language, territory and identity.

With subtitles in Italian and English, the film is a living testimony and a historical document that safeguards this heritage for future generations.
